Behavior Support Specialist (DSP/Caregiver)

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Behavior Support Specialist (DSP/Caregiver) to support adolescents and young adults (typically ages 11–24) with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and behavioral challenges.

This hands-on role involves behavior support, personal care, skill development, and community-based activities while helping individuals increase independence and reach personal goals.

Responsibilities

• Implement behavior support plans under the guidance of a Behavior Analyst.
• Support individuals with autism, IDD, and behavioral challenges using positive behavior strategies.
• Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, dressing, grooming, feeding, and meal preparation as needed.
• Support community outings, recreational activities, and life skills development.
• Administer medications and basic first aid as trained and authorized.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow HIPAA guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience as a DSP, caregiver, behavioral technician, childcare provider, mentor, or related role is a plus.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, IDD, or behavioral challenges is preferred but not required.
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
