The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting applications for Beach and Park Watersports Attendants - Miami Beach and Rocky Point Beach Summer Seasonal Employment. Schedule: 40 hours per week - Summer Seasonal (Memorial Day to Labor Day)

Locations: Must have reliable transportation. Facilities are not located on public transportation lines. Miami Beach is located at 4001 Bay Drive, Middle River, Maryland 21220. Rocky Point Beach is located at 2200 Rocky Point Road, Essex, Maryland 21221.

Definition of Responsibility This position is responsible for supervising watersports rentals and leading watersports programs at an assigned beach, park, or other facility.

All interested candidates must apply at this time. Examples of Duties Job Purpose Under direct supervision, will be responsible for supervising watersports rentals and leading watersports programs at the Miami Beach and Rocky Point Beach facilities.

Examples of Essential Job Duties Enforce facility rules and regulations for the public. Keep facilities clean and free from hazards. Collect day fees, season passes, and memberships using a cash register for all financial transactions. Verify transactions, the daily report, and deposits for the day. Proper check-in and placement of visiting groups. Answering phones and giving accurate park information. Enforcement of facility rules, including checking coolers for alcohol. Keep facilities clean and free from hazards and litter. Alerting patrons to changing weather and water conditions. Perform routine tasks as assigned. (Such as cleaning bathrooms, removing trash from barrels, cleaning grills and grounds, and minor maintenance.) Assist managers in dealing with customers as situations arise. Facilitate rentals of watersports equipment and process program registrations. Lead watersports rentals, instruction, and programs for the visiting public and organized groups. Prepare and break down daily rentals of boats and watersports equipment.

Examples of Other Duties Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age by May 1, 2026. Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on weekdays. Must have reliable transportation. Facilities are not located on public transportation lines. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Preferred Experience Ability to interact with people in a helpful, courteous manner. Applicants having the ability to work the entire season, Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first.

Licenses and Certificates Current First Aid/CPR/AED by May 1, 2026. Current American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (or equivalent) by May 1, 2026. Maryland Boater Safety Certificate by May 1, 2026. If not currently a Certified American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (or equivalent), you must be able to attend training arranged by Baltimore County at the start of the season.

Conditions of Employment Seasonal Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan. Seasonal positions are not included in the Employees Benefits Plan. Applicants having the ability to work the entire season, Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first.

Physical and Environmental Conditions Must have reliable transportation. Facilities are not located on public transportation lines. Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Health Insurance benefits elected become effective the first day of the month following the date of hire if the employee has completed online enrollment prior to that date. New employees must enroll within thirty (30) calendar days of hire. Plans offered include:

Flexible Spending Accounts Opportunity to set aside pre-tax dollars, through payroll deduction, for eligible unreimbursed medical care expenses and/or dependent care costs.

Life Insurance In order to qualify for life insurance benefits, part-time employees must be scheduled for four (4) full work days plus two (2) hours each week. Employees may elect basic term life insurance for themselves equal to one time the employees annual salary, rounded to the next higher $1,000. Employees contribute a portion of the premium through monthly payroll deductions. The County also offers an Additional/Employee paid Life Insurance plan with coverage up to $100,000.

Retirement Employees are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.

Paid Leave Sick Leave - Monthly sick leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. No maximum on accrual. Accrued balance can be applied toward service credit at retirement.

Vacation Leave - Monthly vacation leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. Earnings increase after five, ten and fifteen years of service generally.

Holidays - Part-time 30 to 39 hour non-merit or non-classified employees will generally be paid for ten holidays per calendar year. Other part-time, non-merit or non-classified employees working 29 hours per week or less will receive two paid holidays per calendar year. These holidays are the Christmas holiday and the Independence Day holiday.
