Job Description

The North Adams Public Schools is anticipating the need for a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. This position is subject to the North Adams Teachers Association contract.

Job Goal: To provide behavior analysis services and support to students in the North Adams Public Schools; to provide support and professional learning to school staff and parents regarding behavioral principles and interventions. This position will also provide embedded coaching and professional development to teacher assistants in our three schools.

Supervision: Reports to the Director of Student Support Services.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, support staff and parents/guardians to provide support, coaching and consultation in the appropriate use of behavioral strategies.
  2. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments, analyze findings, and write clear FBA reports and when indicated, Behavior Intervention Plans.
  3. Oversee the implementation of behavior plans and the collection of data necessary to monitor progress, and the ongoing adjustment of plans as needed.
  4. Train staff in the concepts and appropriate implementation of behavior plans.
  5. Provide direct and collaborative Professional Development in the concepts and use of ABA principles, classroom management techniques and behavior management in areas of school outside of the classroom.
  6. Serve as a member of IEP teams as necessary for students who have a behavioral need, and provide consultation to IEP teams.
  7. Draft appropriate portions of the IEP as necessary, and complete progress reports as indicated by students' goals.
  8. Provide consultation as needed to other school and district based teams.
  9. Supervise Registered Behavior Technicians in accordance with the requirements of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  10. Coordinate with outside behavioral service providers, and act as a liaison to those agencies and the school based teams.
  11. Participate in de-escalation and restraint training as part of the district based team.
  12. All other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services.

Job Requirements

Required: Current certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Current licensure by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services as a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst (LABA) - Master's degree in a related field.

Preferred: Massachusetts DESE Licensure as Special Education Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities Prek-8; 5-12 or a related field.

Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.

Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids.

At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.

Master degree preferred.
