Assesses nutritional needs and provides nutrition services to bariatric patients.
Job Duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assesses dietary patterns, lifestyle, food purchasing practices and resources, weight history, and readiness for change.
• Educates patients on significant dietary and lifestyle changes required for bariatric surgery success.
• Develops individualized pre-operative diet plans.
• Guides patients through post-operative diet progression.
• Monitors patients for nutritional deficiencies and recommends appropriate supplementation.
• Provides individualized counseling.
• Develops strategies for long-term weight maintenance.
• Evaluates care plan effectiveness and measures progress, reassessing the nutrition care process and implanting changes as needed.
• Provides appropriate follow-up in accordance with patient’s treatment goals.
• Supports all clinical requirements, including assessments and maintaining records and documentation.
• Collaborates effectively with the bariatric care team to ensure consistency in patient education and program messaging.
• Collaborates with Bariatric Program staff to coordinate and implement the bariatric support group program.
• Leads monthly bariatric support group sessions.
• Performs and participates in Quality Improvement (QI) activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
• Performs work under minimal supervision.
• Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Registered Dietitians registered prior to January 1, 2024: Bachelor’s degree, no substitutions.
• Registered Dietitians registered after January 1, 2024: Master’s degree, no substitutions.
• At least one (1) year of experience in a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
• Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) and possess and maintain a license (LD) from the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision.
• Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM) preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
• Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
