Job Title: Bar Back (Part-Time) Location: The Hops Spot, Syracuse, NY Reports To: Bar Manager / Lead Bartenders

Position Summary

The Hops Spot, Syracuse’s craft beer-focused burger bar and poutinerie with a full liquor inventory, is seeking a reliable and energetic Part-Time Bar Back to join our high-volume team. This fast-paced role is essential to keeping our busy bar running smoothly during peak nights. You will work closely with our bartenders to ensure seamless service, maintain a clean and organized bar area, and support overall operations in a dynamic, guest-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Stock the bar with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, and supplies throughout the shift.
• Change and handle kegs, lift and move cases of product, and transport heavy items as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, back bar, and storage areas, including washing glassware, utensils, and equipment.
• Assist bartenders with drink preparation, restocking during service, and guest service support when required.
• Perform opening and closing duties, including deep cleaning and preparation for the next shift.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs to management.
• Uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in accordance with health codes.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume setting while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.

Schedule & Availability

• Part-time position with shifts primarily on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
• Shifts typically run until 3:00 AM or later (closing duties required).
• Weekend availability is mandatory.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds comfortably (kegs, cases, equipment).
• Previous bar, restaurant, or high-volume service experience preferred but not required — we will train the right candidate.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old (21+ preferred for full bar exposure).
• Flexible availability for Thursday–Saturday nights.
• Must pass background check and meet all New York State employment requirements.
