Job Description

Job Title: Banquet Houseperson

Department: Banquets                                                     

Supervision Exercised: N/A

Supervision Received: Food & Beverage Manager, Food + Beverage Supervisor, and Banquets Captain

Job Summary: Ensure proper set up, break down, and cleanliness of banquet and meeting facilities according to the guest’s expectations and brand standards. 

Job Duties include the following:

Guest Services & Operations:

  • Perform all Banquet side work as designated by the Banquet Captain and/or Supervisor/Manager.

  • Efficiently and properly perform all service standards.

  • Prepare rooms and tables for breakfast, lunch or dinner and rooms are set (table, linen, silverware, glassware, food area) standards.

  • Cleans banquet and meeting facilities prior to set-up. 

  • Coordinate with banquets captain/supervisor on room set up.

  • Refresh meeting rooms during meal and coffee breaks (trash removal, refreshment of pads & pens, wipe tables refresh of candy caddies' glassware and water pitcher or water bottles). 

  • Break down meeting rooms as soon as possible after end of function and vacuum room. 

  • Moves convention material boxes, programs, etc. from hotel receiving docks, registration areas, sleeping rooms, or suites. When client packages are ready to ship back, move to the shipping location. Caring for the equipment. 

  • Accommodates special customer needs, hanging banners for meetings and food/beverage functions. 

  • Organizing and maintaining the back of the house areas to ensure a productive, safe and energy conserving work environment.  

Administrative & Communication:

  • Report to the Banquet Captain/Supervisor or Manager regarding any need for housekeeping and/or repairs of banquet equipment, rooms and/or maintenance.

  • Follow up with guest requests/complaints

Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous banquet set up experience in a hotel setting such as Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt or another hotel brand.

  • Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work morning, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.

  • Ability to satisfactory communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.

The employee is regularly required to push/pull up to 75lbs Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
