We combine a multi-venue contemporary art museum boutique hotel and a chef driven restaurant to create a unique and welcoming opportunity.Come join our FlockJob DescriptionReports To Chef de CuisineExecutive ChefSupervisesLine CooksGeneral PurposeTheEventChefworks with the Event Managerand the Sales Managerto create and execute menusin the kitchenin a volumerequiredfor the variety of events possible in the event spaces and of a quality consistent with the characterand qualityof the property restaurant.Specific ResponsibilitiesOwnsservice period and crew.Able tomonitorallkitchenactivitiesbasically witheyes all over the place.Knowsstrengths and weaknesses of line staffundersupervisionknowswhen what andto whomtodelegatewith confidence inthe final result.Clearly sets and clearly communicatesexpectationsforthe finished product.Is ready andavailable toassistline staff with recipe techniques station prep and to answer any questions they may have.Clearly communicates information about thedayservice for line staff as they arrive such as menu changes stationassignmentsand private events.Ensures thatstewarding stafffollowsopening closing and mid service side work.Coordinateswith CDCto supervisestewarding department.Maintains clean and organized walk-ins & dry storage area.Responsible for daily and weekly product ordering in conjunction with Chef deCuisine.Is aware of food and labor costs and makes efforts to control these in their particular service periods.Abreast of all menu changes regardless of service period.Collaborates with Chef deCuisineandor ExecutiveChefon menu development and engineering.Attends monthly barmeeting.Attends annual employee rally.Attends beverage training as posted.Attendsother meetings as posted.Other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.QualificationsMinimum of two years ofexperience in a high volume or fine dining restaurant environment.Understanding ofprofessional cooking and knife handling skills.Knowledge of safetysanitationand food handling processes.Able to work flexible hours nights weekends.Responsible dependable punctual.Excellent communication skills must be able to speak read and understand English.Solid computer knowledge in Microsoft office programs.Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.Mustpass a background check.EducationFormal TrainingSome college education.ExperienceTwo or more yearsofsous chef experience.Previousjob in a kitchen line position.Additional Information21c Museum Hotels is an equal opportunity employer.
