The firm’s bankruptcy team handles complex matters involving debtor/creditor rights, restructuring, and Chapter 11 proceedings across a wide range of industries.

We are currently seeking a dynamic, experienced and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Legal Assistant to join our esteemed legal team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our bankruptcy attorneys and managing complex bankruptcy cases. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile cases, providing invaluable support to our clients and legal team. The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in the legal industry, specifically in bankruptcy law.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist attorneys with the preparation and filing of Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy documents.
  • Manage all aspects of commercial foreclosure cases including the review of loan documents, research of factual issues, preparation and filing of pleadings.
  • Conduct loan workouts, and represent creditors' rights in insolvency situations.
  • Maintain case management system and ensure proper case tracking and compliance with timelines.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents and correspondence such as motions, notices, proofs of claim, and orders.
  • Coordinate with clients, trustees, and court personnel.
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys including scheduling, billing, and expense reporting.
  • Organize and maintain debtor files and manage large volumes of documents.
  • Stay updated with changes in bankruptcy law and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or secretary in the field of bankruptcy law is required.
  • Proficient in creditors' rights, insolvency, lender, loan workouts, Chapter 7, commercial foreclosure, and creditor rights.
  • Strong understanding of debtor and creditor law.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong research and report-generating skills.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Paralegal certification or degree in legal studies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with PACER, ECF filing, and other bankruptcy court procedures is a plus.
