Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards for Music.
  • Teach middle school and/or high school concert band, beginning band, jazz band, pep band, marching band, and other instrumental ensembles as assigned.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and varying skill levels.
  • Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate grade records.
  • Prepare students for concerts, contests, festivals, and community performances.
  • Integrate music theory, music history, performance techniques, and musicianship into instruction.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, student-centered band culture.
  • Recruit and retain students in the band program.
  • Coordinate all band performances, rehearsals, competitions, and travel arrangements.
  • Maintain inventory, care, and organization of instruments, uniforms, music library, and equipment.
  • Assist with budgeting and purchasing of music, instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with administration and other staff to support school initiatives and student success.
  • Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education and State and Federal Law.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develops reasonable procedures and rules of behavior in the classroom and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
  • Participates cooperatively with the principal in performance evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent, superintendent designee, or principal
  • Maintains confidentiality and supports the school and district.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Contract Terms:

  • 184 Day Contract
  • Start Date: August 3, 2026
  • Salary commensurate with experience

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (Google docs, sheets, calendar, and slides)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Bachelors degree in Music Education or related field required.
  • Indiana Indiana teaching license in instrumental/general music education or eligibility to obtain licensure

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
