Position Title: Band/Choir Director
Location: White River Valley Middle School and White River Valley High School Employment Type: Full Time Certified
Position Summary: We are looking for someone who is passionate, skilled, and student-centered to continue growing the band and choir programs at White River Valley Schools. This role includes all administrative roles of the program as well as programming/planning performances and events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Have the ability to creatively develop lessons surrounding a small ensemble with varying instrumentation
Establishing a developmentally appropriate, positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
Advancing positive interpersonal relationships with coworkers and students. Communicating proficiently with students and parents
Teach 3 curricular bands (Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced), 1 curricular choir (HS), one general music (8th grade), and co-teach 2 middle school choirs. Lead the Pep Band at Basketball games
Optional: Continue the extracurricular jazz ensemble.
Determining and supporting standards of classroom behavior, and upholding district-adopted discipline policies.
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required.
Valid state teaching license preferred.
Proficient knowledge of teaching strategies and methods.
Proficient knowledge of applicable laws, policies, and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with students, staff, and families Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
