The Back of the House Staff is responsible for assisting with the production of bakery items, ensuring product quality, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen. The Baker I works under the guidance of senior bakers to prepare high-quality baked goods, following established recipes and standards. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Production Support
- Assist in preparing doughs, batters, and fillings according to specified recipes and instructions.
- Ensure accurate scaling, measuring, and portioning of ingredients.
Baking and Preparation
- Operate ovens, mixers, and other bakery equipment under the supervision of senior bakers.
- Bake and monitor products to ensure they meet quality and consistency standards.
Quality Control
- Conduct regular checks for product quality, adjusting baking times and temperatures as needed.
- Report any inconsistencies or quality concerns to the Head Baker.
Inventory and Stocking
- Monitor ingredients and supplies, ensuring that stock is adequately maintained and rotated.
- Notify supervisors of any shortages or necessary reorders.
Cleanliness and Maintenance
- Keep workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other BOH team members to ensure a smooth production process.
- Communicate effectively to maintain workflow and meet production schedules.
Job Requirements & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Prior experience in a bakery or commercial kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
