Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 per year
Description:
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse, you will own the manufacturing of batteries across our Mira and Helios vehicles. Your work will power our spacecraft and customer payloads. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and performance of the systems we send into orbit and beyond. Leveling will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of battery manufacturing lines across our vehicles.
- Define the manufacturing process flow of battery packs and scale-up of battery pack production rate.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability review drawings and provide DFMDFA feedback on battery packs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on quality and reliability.
- Perform capacity planning for battery manufacturing and own schedule for battery production.
- Provide day-to-day support for the production floor resolving build issues updating work instructions and improving yields.
- Provide guidance to technicians during the production process.
- Define and implement battery safety protocols and train technicians to work safely with batteries.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 3 years of demonstrated manufacturing experience with battery pack module manufacturing and testing.
- Knowledge of battery management systems (BMS).
- Experience with CAD software (Simens NX preferred).
- Experience with MES systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
- 6 years of demonstrated experience in battery manufacturing and testing.
- Experience with welding for battery applications.
- Experience with potting for battery applications.
- Experience with characterization of battery performance.
- Experience in hardware development for space applications.
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity. In addition to base salary for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of stock options and access to medical, vision & dental coverage, as well as access to a 401k retirement plan.
