Aviation Materials & Logistics Supervisor (LAX APM)

Employer: Express Employment LAX

Project: Automated People Mover (APM) at Los Angeles International Airport

A day in the life

As the sun rises over the airfield, you open the warehouse and scan the dashboard: inbound spares are on time, cycle counts are queued, and a kitting order for overnight maintenance is ready to stage. You brief your team on priorities, walk the floor to verify safe conditions, and clear a repair return. By midday, you reconcile inventory variances in the ERP, align a subcontractor’s delivery window with operations, and coach a new lead on standardized work. Before shift’s end, you review KPIs, sign off on a calibration report, and confirm fleet inspections are documented—everything in place so APM operations never miss a beat.

What you’ll own

  • End-to-end warehouse control: Direct receiving, putaway, storage, inventory accuracy, kitting, and distribution for materials, equipment, tools, and spare parts supporting APM activities.
  • Safety and compliance leadership: Champion EHS policies, uphold OSHA best practices, and maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
  • Inventory integrity: Safeguard physical counts and data accuracy in ERP/MRP; execute cycle counting and standard inventory control procedures.
  • Logistics orchestration: Coordinate internal and subcontracted material flows, supplier delivery schedules, and repair/return processes to meet operational timelines.
  • People leadership: Plan workloads, set priorities, train, coach, and develop warehouse personnel.
  • Continuous improvement: Optimize warehousing, packaging, and logistics using Lean and QCDE principles; implement measurable CI initiatives.
  • Performance and stakeholder coordination: Track and report supply chain KPIs, support audits, and interface with customers and project stakeholders.
  • Tools, equipment, and fleet oversight: Manage tooling control, calibration, and repairs, plus site fleet inspections, maintenance, and compliance documentation.
