JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform a variety of skilled maintenance and minor repair services on a routine preventive and corrective basis for City vehicles and light equipment. This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of a high school or vocational-technical school course in automotive mechanics and one (1) year of experience as an automotive mechanic or mechanic assistant. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Regular part-time employees who work 1,500 hours shall receive six (6) days of Sick Leave upon the completion of the 1,500 hours. If unused, this Sick Leave shall be allowed to accumulate to a maximum of fifteen (15) days (120 hours). Regular, full-time non-probationary employees who transfer to Regular, part-time positions will receive credit for the previous year's service for purposes of Sick Leave accrual and may carry over accrued Sick Leave accrual up to the maximum noted above.
Regular part-time employees who were in pay status (vacation, sick leave, or actual hours worked) for at least 1,500 hours during the year shall receive the following Vacation Leave:
Up to 10 years of service (40 hrs.) = 5 days per year 10 years or more (60 hrs.) = 7-1/2 days per year
