What Youll Do This position works under general direction and requires thorough knowledge of auto mechanics with automotive service excellence certification in at least four areas two of which must be A1 engine repair and A8 engine performance. • Lead team of lower-level auto mechanics andor inmates i.e. provides work direction and training engaged in automotive maintenance and repair • Perform major overhauls of engines or repair most difficult and complex equipment problems • Perform minor and major repairs of vehicles and equipment • Assists inmatesmechanics in diagnosing and resolving mechanical problems inspects completed work and equipment and ensures that procedures and safety practices are followed • Ensures tool control policies and procedures and chemical control policies and procedures are followed • Repairs rebuilds andor replaces minor and major parts e.g. electrical system components alternators water or fuel pumps clutches brake systems • Adjusts valves and performs preventive maintenance and service on vehicles and equipment • Performs miscellaneous mechanic work e.g. body repair work repairs or replaces tires cleans or replaces diesel injectors • Provides service and repair of vehicles and equipment on emergency basis • Cleans garage area equipment andor tools • Mows grass • Operates equipment snow plows andor tow truck • Schedules maintenance and repairs of equipment • Maintains repair or service records • Maintain required certifications • Updates shop manuals and parts books • Operates welding equipment e.g. acetylene torch MIG welding equipment to heat shape and weld machinery and equipment • Operates computer to enter edit and retrieve data from computer systems • Performs inventories andor orders and picks up parts and supplies • Controlsrestricts inmate movement This is a reposting...
