Job Description

An Automotive Janitorial position focuses on maintaining a clean and safe environment for both customers and employees within the service area of a car dealership or auto repair shop. This involves a range of cleaning and light maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal, as well as handling spills and assisting with some minor repairs.  This role is essential to ensuring an excellent experience for our customers and team.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Clean and maintain showroom floors, windows, glass partitions, offices, and customer waiting areas
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and maintain service shop floors, including safe removal of oil and automotive fluids
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms; restock paper products and supplies
  • Empty trash, recycling, and waste containers in accordance with safety procedures
  • Clean spills promptly using proper safety protocols and signage
  • Dust and wipe surfaces, furniture, counters, and display vehicles (exterior surface dusting only)
  • Maintain exterior walkways and entryways free of debris
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor machines
  • Follow company safety guidelines and proper chemical handling procedures
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply needs to management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

     

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality required
  • Physical Stamina: The ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry items for extended periods. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching, ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment, ability to work in varying temperatures and moderate noise levels
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure thorough cleaning and maintenance.
  • Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to complete all responsibilities.
  • Ability to Work Independently: The capacity to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic Knowledge of Cleaning Products and Equipment: Understanding how to properly use and handle cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Compliance with Safety Regulations: A commitment to following safety protocols and procedures.
  • Customer Service Skills (Optional): In some roles, strong customer service skills may be required, especially when interacting with customers in the service area.
