AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

Performs routine and preventive maintenance on equipment, vehicles, and other components. Inspects accessory equipment, pumps fuel into vehicles, checks levels, and tops-off or replaces fluids. Drains, replaces oil, collects, recovers Freon, replaces filters, lubricates mechanical parts, installs, and replaces wiper blades. Rotates tires, belts, and hoses. Checks batteries, flushes radiators, and performs alignments.
Inspects, tests, and repairs ignition systems, computerized engine controls, electronic fuel injection systems, steering systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems, driver train systems, engine cooling systems, fuel systems, charging systems, starting systems, emission systems, air bag restraint systems, and/or air conditioning systems. Repairs tires and wheels and removes and replaces heavy equipment tires that are flat or unsafe.
Communicates with parts department, supervisor, County employees, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, understand issues or concerns with equipment, and train and demonstrate proper usage and functions of equipment. Performs other related duties as required.
