Our Opportunity
Adjunct faculty salary for the 2026-2027 fiscal year is $1,165.00- $1,189.00 per credit hour, as listed in the CBA (Download PDF reader).
South Puget Sound Community College seeks candidates for a 5-credit part-time/adjunct position teaching evening courses in the Automotive Department. This position can start as early as September 1, 2026, but is subject to change pending enrollment, and is renewed quarterly based on enrollment and demand.
These positions are expected to have 8 hours of student-facing teaching hours per week.
The instructor should be able to teach and guide students in the diagnosis and repair of passenger cars and light trucks in both lecture and lab settings. As a reminder, the teaching assignments will be in the evening hours. This recruitment is open to all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications stated below. Applications received by the closing date will be used to create an applicant pool that may be used to fill similar vacancies at the College over the next 6-9 months.

Qualifications You Possess
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree related to Automotive Technology or three (3) years of recent industry experience in automotive technology
Successful applicants will be required to obtain current ASE Certification within 90 days of hire, including:
ASE A6 - Electrical/Electronic Systems Certification.
ASE G1 - Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Certification
Ability to work an evening schedule
Ability to provide and teach automotive skills, automotive theory, and operations and maintenance of automotive equipment in a structured lecture and lab environment
A Washington State Professional Technical Vocational Certificate or the ability to become vocationally certificated, which requires at least two years of applicable experience within the last five years.
