Position Summary
The Engineering technician supports the local engineering team by executing mechanical and electrical tasks in development projects. The self-motivated and results driven professional also supports the service team as a second-level escalation point of contact.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and execute electrical and mechanical setup and installation for engineering R&D projects
- Second level software support for Weber service department
- Mechanical and electrical integration of 3rd party equipment into Weber line solutions
- Support Weber Inc specific internal research and development projects
- Run and document R&D tests
- Drive quick problem solution by facilitating communication with Engineering department
- Lead US specific support for service needs regarding remote connections and initial setup of digital solutions
- Field installation and support for development projects as needed
- Duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
- Excellent technical skills and ability to understand operation of complex production systems.
- Proficient knowledge of electric controls is mandatory.
- Systematical problem-solving ability in combination with proper time management are essential.
- Ability to understand pneumatic and electrical controls and machine design is essential.
- Experience in commissioning full lines and individual machines is preferred
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects/priorities.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with the use of Salesforce and SAP would be a benefit
- Sensitivity to problems; ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
- Employee must be personable with excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a team environment will be essential.
- German as a second language would be a benefit
Education and Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent technical school diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar discipline; or two years field service, packaging, maintenance or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Requirements
- Must have a valid and unrestricted drivers license. Real ID-compliant driver's license or other TSA approved alternative form of identification required for travel.
- Valid passport or can obtain one.
- Must have the ability to frequently travel within North America and Germany.
