Automation Tech III is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing complex automated manufacturing systems with minimal supervision. Expert level PLC/robotic programming, leading major equipment repairs, mentoring junior technicians, and continuous improvement to ensure maximum up time.
 

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Expert diagnosis of complex electrical, mechanical, and software-related problems
    • Perform root cause analysis on complex, high-speed automated machinery, including Automated Guided Vehicles Robotics and complex conveyor systems, including control arm repairs
    • Improving automated system performance through code modification and hardware upgrades
    • Modify, debug, and optimize PLC programs, HMI screens, and SCADA systems to enhance performance
    • Execute complex preventive/predictive maintenance, rebuilds, and installation of new automation equipment
    • Create and update technical documentation, electrical schematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) according to industry standards (e.g., ISO, FDA)
    • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document work orders, repair history, and PM activities
    • Reading and applying complex blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to understand system operations. This includes AutoCAD Electrical schematic review
    • Train and evaluate lower-level technicians (I and II), acting as a technical expert for the team
    • Strictly follow safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and ensure compliance with OSHA/ANSI standards
    • Providing after-hours or weekend emergency repair services
    • Other duties as assigned

  •  Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • • High School diploma or equivalent required and 8+ years of industrial maintenance or automation experience, or equivalent combination of vocational education and experience
    • Advanced proficiency in PLC programming software
    • Experience troubleshooting and programming industrial robots
    • Proficient in using precision measuring tools and electrical testing equipment
    • Ability to work at elevated heights using ladders as well as operating ariel lift equipment for extended periods of time
