Step into a day that saves lives

You start your morning on the Reagent Operations floor in Chaska, MN. An HMI alarm from an automated filler kicks off your first task: isolate the fault, trace I/O, and bring the line back up safely. By midday you’re tuning a servo axis, validating a vision inspection recipe, and documenting a corrective action with our Manufacturing Process Engineering team. Before shift-end, you collaborate with a vendor on a parts upgrade and help commission a new station—another contribution to the reliability of an FDA‑regulated production line that ultimately supports patient care worldwide.

This is the impact you’ll have as an Automation Equipment Reliability Technician at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, part of Danaher. Our clinical diagnostics solutions support more than one million tests every hour, touching 1.2 billion patients and over three million clinicians each year.

Location and team: On‑site in Chaska, MN, embedded with our Manufacturing Process Engineering team supporting high‑volume reagent manufacturing.

What you’ll do

  • Own rapid triage and repair of automated equipment across electrical, mechanical, PLC/HMI (Rockwell), robotics, vision, and motion systems to reduce downtime.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis for automation, process, and material issues; define and implement lasting corrective and preventive actions.
  • Install, commission, and qualify new or upgraded equipment; keep technical documentation current and partner cross‑functionally to improve reliability and compliance.

What you bring

  • Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field, plus 6+ years supporting automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Hands‑on mastery spanning electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, vision, and PLC/HMI (e.g., Rockwell), with schematic reading and safety practices (LOTO, NFPA 70E).
  • Track record of solving hard problems in a fast‑paced production setting; strong communicator with flexibility for off‑shift/on‑call support.

Bonus points

  • Lean Six Sigma tools, statistics, and data analysis to drive process capability, quality, and uptime.
  • Background in regulated manufacturing with adherence to quality systems and applicable requirements.
  • Progress toward advanced automation credentials (ISA CCST, CAP) and a growth mindset.

Proficiencies

  • PLC Troubleshooting Skills
  • PLC Programming Experience
  • PLC Wiring Experience
