The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining world‑class quality systems while ensuring compliance with FDA regulations, SQF standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices.Job OverviewThe Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment and packaging systems. This role combines automation engineering with hands‑on maintenance responsibilities to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and improve production efficiency.The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Operations teams to install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize industrial automation systems. This position requires experience with PLC programming, electrical controls, industrial networks, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities1. Automation Programming & ControlsDevelop, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC programs for automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.Support programming and diagnostics of Allen‑Bradley (Rockwell Automation) and Siemens PLCs, HMIs, and associated control systems.Assist with development and modification of machine control logic, operator interfaces, alarms, and recipes.Configure industrial automation hardware including I/O, drives, VFDs, sensors, vision systems, and communication devices.Support integration of new equipment into existing manufacturing systems.2. Machine Maintenance & ReliabilityPerform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated production equipment.Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system failures.Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled equipment to quickly identify root causes and restore production.Support emergency breakdown response to minimize equipment downtime.Assist with spare parts identification and maintenance planning.Support installation, startup, testing, validation, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.Verify wiring, I/O functionality, safety circuits, and machine operation.Execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) when applicable.Participate in equipment upgrades and modernization projects.Perform systematic troubleshooting of automation systems, electrical controls, sensors, actuators, motors, and communication networks.Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques to identify recurring equipment issues.Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.5. Documentation & Technical SupportCreate and maintain electrical schematics, PLC documentation, I/O lists, panel layouts, and equipment documentation.Maintain accurate maintenance records and engineering documentation.Update revision‑controlled drawings and machine documentation.Provide technical support to maintenance technicians and production personnel.6.
