Automation Control Engineer

An engineering and manufacturing firm in the Phoenix area is hiring an Automation Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, and commissioning of industrial automation systems. This role is ideal for a hands‑on controls engineer who enjoys working directly with equipment, solving real production problems, and owning systems from design through startup.ResponsibilitiesDesign, program, and support PLC-based control systems for manufacturing and industrial equipmentDevelop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)Create and maintain HMI and SCADA applications for machine and process controlDesign and review electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and I/O documentationIntegrate sensors, instrumentation, motors, VFDs, and safety devices into control systemsSupport system testing, commissioning, and startup activitiesTroubleshoot automation, electrical, and control system issues to minimize downtimeWork closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to deliver reliable solutionsAssist with system upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiativesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Controls, or equivalent hands‑on experience3+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineeringPLC programming experience in a manufacturing, OEM, or industrial environmentExperience with HMI development and control system troubleshootingAbility to read and create electrical drawings and schematicsStrong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)VFDs, motion control, or robotics experienceFamiliarity with machine safety standards and safety PLCsCommissioning or field startup experienceOn‑site role based in Phoenix, AZHands‑on interaction with machinery, control panels, and production equipmentLimited travel may be required for commissioning or supportSeniority levelMid‑Senior levelEmployment typeFull‑timeJob functionEngineering Services and ManufacturingReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at Converge Resources by 2x#J-18808-Ljbffr
