Nesco Resource is seeking an experienced and mechanically skilled Automated Equipment Technician to join a leading local production company in Webster, NY. This temp-to-perm opportunity offers the chance to support highly automated processing, packaging, and warehouse systems in a state-of-the-art food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting industrial automation systems, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and equipment reliability.
$39.00/Hour
12-Hour Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Rotating 2-2-3 Schedule: Work every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated processing, packaging, and warehouse equipment
Perform preventative maintenance on automated systems, controls, and production equipment
Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and automation-related equipment issues to minimize downtime
Test and evaluate automated systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
Install, replace, configure, and troubleshoot HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and other automation components
Assist with PLC, HMI, robotics, and process control system support as needed
Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment documentation, and repair logs
Support continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing process controls, alarms, and operator interfaces
Assist with startup, commissioning, and validation of new equipment alongside engineering teams, OEMs, and contractors
Train operators and maintenance personnel on newly installed or upgraded automated systems
Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to maximize equipment efficiency and reliability
Perform maintenance throughout processing, packaging, warehouse automation, and facility utility systems
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety requirements, and plant safety regulations
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Perform additional maintenance and technical duties as assigned
Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated equipment and control systems
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance or engineering
Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems, electrical controls, and manufacturing equipment
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, robotics, and process control systems preferred
Knowledge of automation programming and industrial software applications preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals
Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technology, related military training, or equivalent experience preferred
Industrial electrician, controls, instrumentation, or machinery repair experience preferred
Dairy, food manufacturing, or high-speed beverage production experience preferred
Proficiency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
Reliable attendance and commitment to workplace safety and equipment reliability
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. independently on an occasional basis
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and reach throughout a 12-hour shift
Frequent twisting, turning, pushing, pulling, and repetitive use of hands while servicing equipment
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and computers for maintenance activities
Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards
