SUMMARY
The Retail Sales Manager oversees the vehicle lifecycle from acquisition and reconditioning through to final resale. Key responsibilities include analyzing market data, vehicle history, and condition reports to generate profitable client purchase offers. This role manages vendor relationships for vehicle maintenance and transport, while also driving financial accuracy through rigorous expense reconciliation, revenue reporting, and budget forecasting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Appraises member trade-in vehicles to accurately determine a purchase price that will allow for profit at resell considering all costs involved.
- Manages the reconditioning process – coordinating transport to repair facilities and determining necessary repairs, vehicle detail, smog.
- Maintains vehicle inventory and advertisement to internal and external sources.
- Provides support to Advisor Team with Used Vehicle location through Auction sources.
- Provides Vice President with monthly sales reports and analysis.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with Dealer Auctions and Wholesale Dealers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
While this role does not currently have direct supervisory duties, it is structured for growth; the position will directly manage Retail Sales support staff as the team expands. Future supervisory responsibilities must be carried out in full compliance with company policies, procedures, applicable state and federal laws, and the credit union’s strategic objectives.

- High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
- Minimum 5 year’s experience in used automotive sales
- Extensive knowledge of used vehicle markets and trends
- Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience, with the demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, counsel, and train subordinates.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Valid automobile sales license is required but may be obtained immediately upon hire.
- Prior experience in a field sales environment, where individual lead generation is the prime source of business, is required.
