Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Receive, review, and process provider Authorization requests accurately and timely.
  2. Verify patient demographic and insurance information prior to processing authorizations.
  3. Obtain prior authorizations and referrals as required by insurance carriers.
  4. Duties include, but are not limited to, scheduling appointments with specialty providers.
  5. Duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating referrals for diagnostic testing, imaging, therapy, and specialty consultations.
  6. Communicate referral status and appointment information to patients and referring providers, when applicable.
  7. Monitor referral work queues to ensure referrals are completed within established service level expectations.
  8. Follow up on pending authorizations and referrals to minimize delays in patient care.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  10. Resolve authorization denials by obtaining additional documentation or working with providers and payers as appropriate, when applicable.
  11. Collaborate with clinical staff, providers, revenue cycle, and scheduling teams to improve referral efficiency.
  12. Maintain knowledge of payer guidelines, referral requirements, and authorization processes.
  13. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, company policies, regulatory requirements, and complete all required compliance training while protecting patient and organizational confidentiality.
  14. Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing training.
  15. Deliver exceptional customer service by professionally resolving concerns, utilizing conflict resolution skills, and escalating issues to management when appropriate.
  16. Foster positive, professional relationships with patients, providers, co-workers, and leadership while promoting a respectful, collaborative work environment.
  17. The ability to perform the physical, use of senses, cognitive, and environmental functions of the position, as specified on the physical demands.
  18. Ability to comply with Company standards of operations.

Non-Essential Functions:

Experience Requirements and Preferences::

Basic Requirements:

Education:                

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Associate’s Degree in related field preferred.

               AND

Experience:               

At least two years of Administrative Support or Front Office experience in a health care system.
