    Description

    • Benefits--Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct hearing screening for students preschool through high school who have been referred outside of the regular health screening process by multi-disciplinary building teams, building staff or parents, as assigned and supervised by the Audiologist.
    • Arrange screening appointments with parents for students referred outside of the regular health screening process by multi-disciplinary building teams building staff or parents, with special circumstances as assigned and supervised by the Audiologist.
    • Complete preschool hearing screenings in accordance with WAC, Department of Health, and ECEAP guidelines in cooperation with the Early Learning Department and the Audiologist.
    • Complete and maintain accurate records, including computer data input and tracking of assistive technology.
    • Support data collection and maintenance of information related to students' hearing needs within the district in coordination with the Audiologist.
    • Provide basic support and technical assistance to school staff regarding hearing assistive technology to ensure equipment is in proper working order.
    • Work cooperatively with students, classroom teachers, special education staff, parents, and administrators while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities and activities as appropriate to the position.
    • Assist in other duties and assignments as directed by the Audiologist and Special Education Administration.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
    • Must provide high school diploma (or equivalent) AND 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from an accredited college, AA or BA degree, OR pass an academically rigorous assessment.
    • Successfully complete on-the-job training in audiometric screening and assistive technology.
    • Demonstrated ability to complete data entry and maintain related records via computer. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a diverse group of teachers, parents, and administrators in a confidential manner.
    • Relates positively to students, preschool through high school and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Access to reliable transportation throughout the day to travel between worksites.

    Physical/Mental/Motor Demands:

    While performing duties of this position, the employee experiences frequent sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Hearing and speech to communicate in person, via video conference and computers, or over the telephone. Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time. Vision: Frequent near acuity, occasional far acuity, and color vision. Vision to read printed and online materials, computer screens, or other monitoring devices. Strength is generally sedentary/light - exert force up to 20 lbs., occasionally; 10 lbs. frequently; negligible force, constantly.

    Work Environment

    Climate-controlled office setting with temperatures ranging from mild to moderate cold/heat. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for occasional to frequent time periods.

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee often performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communication.

Employees can choose from a lifetime retirement pension plan or a hybrid pension and investment plan that contributes between 5% and 15% of wages to retirement. When employees meet plan requirements and retire, they are guaranteed a monthly benefit for the rest of their life from the employer-funded pension.

    • Employees can also participate in voluntary savings programs to increase retirement savings such as the DRS Deferred Compensation Program or by participating in a 403(b) retirement plan through the District's plan manager, OMNI.
