Summary
The AV Account Manager manages existing client relationships and supports booked events from sales handoff through execution and post-event follow-up. This role ensures client expectations, event details, technical requirements, scope changes, and communication are handled clearly so events run smoothly. The position requires extensive AV equipment knowledge and the ability to understand audio, video, lighting, power, scenic, labor, venue needs, and production flow well enough to support accurate planning, margin protection, and a strong client experience.
This role is not primarily responsible for hunting new business, but it should identify upsell opportunities, support repeat business, and help strengthen long-term client relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Manage existing client accounts and maintain strong long-term relationships.
- Serve as the main client-facing contact after handoff for booked events.
- Understand client event goals, technical requirements, budget, venue considerations, and timeline.
- Review event scope involving audio, video, lighting, power, scenic, labor, and outsourced vendor needs.
- Support accurate quoting for order changes, add-ons, upsells, and billing-related updates.
- Understand equipment needs, labor requirements, install timing, production flow, and how scope changes affect pricing and margins.
- Coordinate with fellow staff to ensure all event details are clearly communicated before execution.
- Facilitate clean internal handoffs with detailed notes on scope, expectations, client preferences, and changes.
- Attend site walks, client meetings, and selected events when needed to support relationship-building and event success.
- Stay lightly involved during planning through periodic check-ins, upsell conversations, and client support.
- Gather and manage details from third-party vendors, freelancers, or creative partners when needed.
- Help create simple 2D mockups or visual concepts using Canva or similar tools when helpful for client understanding.
- Maintain accurate account notes, communication records, event details, pipeline activity, and forecasting in Lasso and related systems.
- Help improve quoting standards, margin protection, process consistency, and repeat-business opportunities.
Required qualifications
- Experience in AV account management, event production, technical client service, or live event production support.
Extensive working knowledge of AV equipment and live event production solutions.
- Strong understanding of audio, video, lighting, power, scenic, labor, and venue-related production needs.
- Ability to understand and support scopes for simple and complex events.
Strong understanding of labor calculations, install timing, production flow, and how to protect margins through accurate scope management.
Experience supporting corporate events, conferences, galas, fundraisers, meetings, nonprofit events, social events, or concerts.
Ability to communicate technical event requirements clearly to clients and internal production teams.Experience managing client relationships, follow-up, account communication, and post-sale support.
Ability to identify upsell opportunities and support repeat business without being overly sales-heavy.
- Experience managing vendor, freelancer, or creative partner details is preferred.
- Ability to create simple 2D visual mockups using Canva or similar tools is a plus.
- Experience using CRM, quoting, or production management systems; Lasso experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, organization, follow-up, presentation, negotiation, and account management skills.
- Hybrid availability for office days, site walks, client meetings, and occasional strategic event attendance.
- Best-fit candidates have AV/live event production experience, understand how shows are installed and run, are detail-oriented, margin-aware, client-friendly, and comfortable working closely with production teams.
