Job Title: Attendance Clerk, High School

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Principal

Pay Grade: Clerical/Technical 2

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Maintain accurate student attendance records at the campus level. Under direct supervision, perform data entry including attendance and other data.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
  • Ability to use computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and perform word processing
  • Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance
  • Ability to meet established deadlines

Experience:

  • Two years of clerical or data entry experience preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Records, Reports, and Correspondence

  1. Collect and enter attendance into the established database and verify accuracy according to established procedures.

  2. Assist parents, students, and faculty with questions regarding student attendance.

  3. Process parent and doctor notes and transmit requests for student information.

  4. Call parents to verify student absences as needed and send attendance warning letters as needed.

  5. Report all attendance problems to the designated administrator.

  6. Prepare and print reports, including attendance, grade, roster, and other campus reports.

  7. Compile, maintain, file, and distribute physical and electronic records and reports according to established procedures.

Other

  1. Assist campus office as needed.

  2. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May assist with oversight of Assistant Attendance Clerk position.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
