Position Summary

The Certified Athletic Trainer provides comprehensive athletic training services for a large 5A high school under the direction of the Medical Director and Sports Medicine leadership. Responsibilities include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency care, and coordination of medical referrals for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer serves as a key liaison between healthcare providers, school personnel, athletes, and families while promoting safe participation in athletics.

This role also represents a large Health System within the community through education, outreach, and relationship-building initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training coverage for practices, home athletic events, and designated away events (including varsity football)
  • Evaluate injuries, provide first aid and emergency care, and implement treatment and rehabilitation plans
  • Develop and administer injury prevention programs and appropriate therapeutic modalities
  • Serve as liaison between physicians, school administrators, coaches, athletes, parents, and healthcare team members
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and submit required reports
  • Coordinate and assist with pre-participation physicals in collaboration with the Sports Medicine team
  • Maintain a clean, organized athletic training facility and manage supply inventory
  • Promote sports safety awareness within the school and community
  • Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities
  • Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures related to athletic healthcare

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Athletic Training program required
  • Board of Certification (BOC) credential required
  • Eligible for or currently holding Georgia Athletic Trainer licensure
  • Current CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
