The purpose of the athletic trainer position is to assist the college administration, athletic director, athletic staff in the daily preparation, monitoring and evaluation of the student athlete's health and wellbeing. In addition, the athletic trainer will follow the policies and guidelines of the academic institution and the governing body of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association).
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Budget preparation/Management
- Athletic Inventory control management
- Recruiting of student trainers
- Attend team practice/competitions to ensure safety of all student athletes
- Oversee athletic insurance requirements
- Facility and equipment maintenance
- Safety monitoring of facilities and student athletes.
- Manage student athlete physical requirements and ensure proper protocol is followed
- Update athletic department handbook as needed.
- Athletics Health Care Administrator following NJCAA protocols.
- To assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director, and/or the College Chancellor.
- Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or Sports Medicine or related field
Master's degree preferred
Required Certificates:
- LAT- Licensed Athletic Trainer Required
- ATC- Athletic Trainer Certification Required
- CPR/AED certifications strongly preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months
Required Skills & Abilities
- Coordinate team schedules and practice times
- Coordinate injury updates with staff
- Compile data/reports within Rank One
- .Ability to properly identify injuries
- Ability to properly administer techniques for injuries
- Concussion knowledge
- CPR knowledge
- AED knowledge
- Identify/treat heat illness
- Time management skills for multiple sports practices/competition/treatments
Preferred Skills & Abilities Required Experience
- One to two (1-2) years of Athletic Trainer Experience (High School Level Minimum) covering multiple sports
- One to two years of experience with sports medicine specialties preferred
- Collegiate trainer experience preferred

Located on the Gainesville Campus. Travel between campuses and off-site locations can be expected as needed. Attendance to athletic events outside of normal business hours may be expected.
