GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide each enrolled student an opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of the sport, and the principles of fair play. Teach a course load of up to three (3) PE/Wellness sections and receive at least one (1) preparation period per day; the teaching schedule shall be strategically assigned for this position. The Athletic Director shall serve as the administrator-on-duty for all athletic-related matters after 2:30 p.m. each day during the sports seasons. During sports seasons, the position's daily start time will be adjusted to accommodate administrator-on-duty hours and requirements. Between sports seasons, the work schedule shall be adjusted to regular school-day hours and may include supervisory coverage. The position is otherwise exempt from additional non-teaching duties.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assist in organizing and administering specific aspects of the overall program of interscholastic athletics. Create and share team rosters with coaches and the Principal. Prepare budget requests for Principal approval. Collaborate with the Principal to ensure that all home games and scrimmages are supervised and organized Provide supervision of buildings, parking lots, and game sites before, during, and after games and scrimmages. Coordinate with Facilities staff to ensure that all buildings are secured. Assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of crowd control and home games, including responding to medical concerns. Arrange ticket sales and receipts when necessary. Work with the Principal and school nurse to verify each participant's physical and academic eligibility to participate in interscholastic sports and that they have met requirements outlined in the school Concussion Policy. Oversee uniforms and equipment, including cleaning, repair, and storage after each season. Schedule transportation to and from athletic games, scrimmages, and late buses after practices. Handle all scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation of buses for sports teams. Page 1 Organize and manage the Interscholastic Athletic Program as part of the total School Program. Responsible for preparing schedules and submitting the appropriate field trip and facility requests for practices, games, scrimmages, and student dismissal arrangements. Contact all parties regarding particulars involved with cancellations or postponements. Be sure parents are provided with required documentation, schedules, and general information about each sport. Strictly enforce all MIAA regulations. Report in writing to the Principal within 24 hours any major infractions of school rules and policies by any student participant during any aspect of athletic programming. Final disciplinary action rests with the Dean of Student Life and/or Principal. Inform the Principal immediately of any athletic injuries sustained that require removal by ambulance, EMT, or medical personnel for examination or hospitalization. Attend mandatory league and state meetings during summer and school year. Work with first responders, administrators, and nurse on creating safety plans and procedures. Other duties may be assigned by the Principal or designee.
