Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing Austin youth to attend and excel at the nation's top colleges and universities. The Athletic Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the high school athletic department, coordinating all areas of the program. The coordinator will help manage the day-to-day operations of the high school athletic department and will support the athletic director.

The high school athletic coordinator will support the athletic director in ensuring thatAustin Achieve maintains a solid reputation within our community, our opponents, officials, and UIL. The coordinator may coach one or more sports during the school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keeps an open line of communication between campus administrators, athletic director, coaches, parents, students, and teachers.
  • Supports the athletic director in athletic department goals and objectives to ensure the overall development of student-athletes.
  • Handles logistics for home events and attends sporting events to help supervise the event.
  • Meets and greets all officials and visiting teams to assist as needed.
  • Oversees the concession and gate, if open.
  • Works with the facility team to make sure that the locker rooms, gym, and field are ready for an athletic event.
  • Works with the coaches to ensure athletic sportsmanship and uniformity.
  • Oversee audio/visual presentations.
  • Is available to coaches, referees, security, and administration.
  • Turn in paperwork for referees' payment.
  • Counts, records, and deposits any money collected for a fee, concession, ticket sales (via GoFan), or miscellaneous.
  • Submits home game staff stipend tracking and submission
  • Admin on duty is the last to leave a home game except for a coach or school personnel. Make sure that all entrances are secure and all equipment, concessions, money, etc. is put away.
  • Fulfill all other responsibilities necessary to ensure that the game is running well and in order.
  • Monitor and enforce student discipline during athletic contests.
  • Oversee the transportation preparation for athletic events, both home and away, schedules gates and lights.
  • Supports certification of coaching staff per UIL guidelines.
  • Monitors and enforces student eligibility of all athletes per UIL guidelines.
  • Develops a consistent grade check system for the entire athletic program, informing athletes, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Encourage good sportsmanship in all phases of athletic participation.
  • Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program and ensure the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing of campus athletic equipment.
  • Provide input on athletics budgets and allocation of spending.
  • Coordinate with coaches about the scheduling of games and practices.
  • Responds to Field Rental Inquiries from coaches and external entities.
  • Responds to Facilities Requests from Coaches (Sheds, Locker Rooms, Equipment)
  • Athlete schedule changes/updates - collaborate with the academic counselor.
  • Helps to coordinate Athletics Awards Ceremony
  • Email Weekly Updates to staff and facilities regarding upcoming games and coverage
  • Helps to maintain athletic website and collaborate with the marketing team.
  • Create and update social media accounts and work with coaches to monitor
  • Develop a plan for more parent involvement in game attendance and athletic support as well as creation of promotional fliers for games.
  • Aid our athletes in the college process, including NCAA filings and documentations
  • Support athletic director and coaches with athletic fundraisers
  • Please note that job duties are subject to additional modifications over time.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Relative experience with setting up systems
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Has been a coach of a Junior Varsity or Varsity sport
