The client is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and deeply student-centered leader to serve as the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students. In this role, the appointee will report to the Vice President for Campus Life and will be a key member of the leadership team. The position involves overseeing approximately 50 staff members through four direct reports who lead Student Support Services, Student Conduct and Community Standards, Study Activities, and Accessibility Services. The AVP/DOS will engage in strategic planning and initiatives aimed at enhancing the student experience, developing community-building efforts, and managing crises across undergraduate, graduate, and medical student populations. This role demands significant in-person student interaction and requires translating student feedback into effective strategies. The role requires extraordinary commitment to student-centered leadership, with the capacity to strategically interpret student voices into actionable plans. The ideal candidate will have exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills, along with an ability to lead through change and inspire innovation. Demonstrated experience in navigating complex organizations, effective crisis management, and serving as a trusted advisor in high-stakes scenarios is essential. Candidates should possess strong critical thinking abilities to assess systems and reimagine approaches for improved student services. A commitment to supporting students from diverse identities and backgrounds and past supervisory experience with staff management and resource allocation are key requirements. The client values candidates with a minimum of 10 years of administrative experience in higher education or similar fields, with progressively responsible leadership roles. The position is ideal for individuals who are comfortable engaging with motivated and vocal students who anticipate transparency and partnership. Familiarity with engaging graduate or professional student populations is highly desirable. While a background in student affairs is beneficial, those with complementary experiences who can challenge traditional educational models are encouraged to apply. A Master's degree is required for consideration for this influential and strategic leadership position.
