Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Deputy Chief Information Officer (Deputy CIO) provides leadership and guidance in critical areas of information technology. These include leading infrastructure operations, major initiatives, technology evaluation, business continuity and disaster recovery efforts, support for research and high-performance systems, and integration of information security throughout the university's infrastructure. The Deputy CIO works with university leaders to prioritize projects and allocate resources, providing technical expertise in the areas of planning, infrastructure, and information security. The Deputy CIO works with other leaders to ensure a high level of service to faculty, staff, and students, and a high level of performance and security from technology systems.
The Deputy CIO reports to the Vice Chancellor of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO) and is a key member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) leadership team. This position leads the division in the CIO's absence and oversees the departments of Enterprise Endpoint Management and Network and System Administration.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Information Technology Services (ITS) strengthens and supports the university's mission of teaching, research, and scholarly application of knowledge by providing the information technology infrastructure, software, hardware, and support to achieve the university's strategic goals. ITS is comprised of nine departments which work with the university community to provide the information technology support and services required to realize operational excellence, integrate advanced technology, and create efficient and effective technology solutions.
