Major/Essential Functions

  • Provide comprehensive nutrition services to Men's Basketball and other sports as assigned.
  • Oversee Womble Basketball fueling station operations, including but not limited to managing the fueling station inventory, purchasing, supplements, systems, and product display/distribution.
  • Develop educational handouts, multimedia content, and group education to promote health, wellness, and performance nutrition habits. Plan and execute enrichment activities such as featured products at fueling stations, cooking demos, and grocery store tours.
  • Manage basketball fueling station student assistants, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, supervision, and mentoring. Assist in serving as a preceptor for Texas Tech University Dietetic Internship.
  • Assist in providing nutrition support for training and competition fueling, including but not limited to practice fueling/hydration, meal management, and gameday nutrition operations. This position may be required to travel depending on the program's needs.
  • Collaborate with basketball operations staff and vendors on performance-based menus as a nutrition expert and provide presence/resource at mealtime for plate coaching.
  • Perform body composition assessment and analysis for basketball student-athletes and provide 1:1 counseling as appropriate.
  • Maintain budget tracking and communication with the Assistant Athletics Director of Sports Nutrition, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in meeting with and presenting to prospective student-athletes and families on recruit visits and OVfs.
  • Maintain open, ongoing communication with the Assistant Athletics Director of Sports Nutrition, sports nutrition staff, sport coaches, strength staff, sports medicine staff, and team physicians.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director of Sports Nutrition.
  • Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree. Two or more years of experience in sports nutrition or a related field.

  • Ability to work a flexible, non-standard schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to lift, push, or move up to 40 pounds.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field, or Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN), with a minimum of two years of experience in sports nutrition or related field, or a combination of related education and/or experience may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis. Will be expected to obtain a Texas dietitian license (LD).
