The Interdisciplinary School for Engagement
The Interdisciplinary School for Engagement (ISE) in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts at UT San Antonio houses four undergraduate majors and seven minors. It consists of more than 25 tenure/tenure track and fixed-term-track faculty members serving more than 850 students. Given its unique mission, the ISE serves as a home for interdisciplinary programs as well as a makerspace and intellectual incubator for new programs in the humanities and social sciences. It is also committed to provide space for collaborative learning and teaching and engage our students in experiential learning and discovery.
Salary Range: $5,000/course.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will enrich the Medical Humanities program housed in the ISE. We seek a medical practitioner whose practice is informed by humanities (such as qualitative research methods, bioethics, narratives of care, histories of medicine and more) and who can design and teach one class centered on medical career/experience within a humanities framework. This will add an engaged practioners view to the classroom, helping our students to become more aware of real-world challenges as well as potential career opportunities for themselves. Overall, the successful candidate will raise the profile of the program by providing our students with opportunities to professionalize and better market their experience in the program and the skills they develop within.
This position will be provided teaching support through faculty and staff and ISE, sharing best practices and guidance on how to design and deliver the class.
This is a temporary position with an expected end date of 12/20/2026. This position may be extended or shortened based on availability of funds and/or departmental need.
