Brief Position Overview The College of Arts Sciences and Educations MEd Program in Counselor Education at Montana State University-Northern MSUN invites applications for a full-time Associate Professor tenure-track position. This position may be considered for in-person or remote work with preference given to candidates who can work on campus. This is a 10-month position with potential for additional compensation for summer teaching anticipated to begin August 1 2026.

Position Details General Statement The successful candidate will teach core counseling courses, practicum, and internship with a primary emphasis on teaching and advising within the School Counseling concentration. The duties and responsibilities of this position also include active participation in the establishment of fieldwork training sites, scholarship initiatives, service involvement including committee membership, student recruitment, retention, and progression efforts, and professional development and leading efforts to assist the program in seeking CACREP accreditation. This is a full-time position that may be considered for in-person or remote work though preference will be given to candidates who can work on campus. Approximately six weeks per year on campus is required to fulfill university obligations and support the programs residency model.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Earned doctorate in Counselor Education with a specialization in School Counseling with preference given to applicants with a doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Professional experience as a school counselor.
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level via distance and/or virtual learning environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse communities.
  • Professional memberships in counseling organizations relevant to the field.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Licensed or licensed-eligible as a School Counselor in Montana.
  • Strong record of leadership.
  • Experience advising and mentoring graduate students.
  • Experience creating, developing, and strengthening partnerships with fieldwork training sites.
  • Experience with curriculum mapping and program evaluation.
  • Knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards and processes.
