If you're passionate about using technology to improve human life, this is where your work truly mattersWhat you will accomplish in this rolePosition SummaryThe Associate Product Owner (APO), Nursing Handoff supports the Product Owner in the execution and delivery of digital nursing handoff capabilities that improve continuity of care, communication quality, patient safety, and frontline nursing efficiency. This role translates the established product vision, strategy, and priorities into clearly defined requirements, workflow designs, acceptance criteria, and delivered outcomes. The APO partners closely with the Product Owner, pod team, nursing stakeholders, clinical informatics, data engineering, facility operations, and technology teams to ensure requirements are execution-ready, handoff workflows are validated with frontline users, and analytics and dashboard solutions are successfully implemented. The Associate Product Owner serves as a leadership partner to the Product Owner, contributing to leadership-facing discussions and reviews while owning delivery execution within defined scope. This role is designed for developing product leaders building toward full Product Owner accountability. What you will do:Execute against the Nursing Handoff product vision, strategy, and roadmap established by the Product Owner.Own delivery of assigned nursing handoff features, workflows, integrations, analytics, and adoption initiatives, ensuring alignment with product OKRs.Translate nursing, operational, patient safety, compliance, and technical needs into detailed, well-structured user stories with clear acceptance criteria.Ensure requirements are implementation-ready and aligned with nursing workflows, interdisciplinary communication needs, regulatory expectations, technical constraints, and operational realities.Own the mechanisms and delivery of requirements with engineering, data engineering, clinical informatics, nursing operations, and facility stakeholder teams for assigned scope.Partner with data engineering to define analytical requirements, data dependencies, adoption metrics, handoff quality measures, patient safety indicators, and reporting timelines.Own delivery of dashboards, reporting, and lever-based analytics solutions that measure handoff completion, standardization, usability, adoption, and product outcomes.Coordinate delivery of workflow-enabled and data-enabled solutions to ensure alignment with sprint goals, release timelines, facility readiness, and operational deployment plans.Identify opportunities for incremental improvement in product execution, nursing workflow design, analytics enablement, adoption support, and delivery processes.Escalate nursing workflow, data, technical, patient safety, adoption, or capacity risks and trade-offs to the Product Owner. Backlog Management Own defined portions of the nursing handoff product backlog, including features, epics, workflows, integrations, and analytics deliverables under Product Owner guidance.Partner with the Product Owner, Tech Lead, architects, engineers, clinical informatics, and operational SMEs to break down work into executable backlog items.Support backlog refinement by clarifying scope, dependencies, workflow impacts, data needs, and delivery sequencing.Monitor sprint progress and proactively surface risks, blockers, decision needs, or scope concerns.Stakeholder CollaborationPartner with the Product Owner in leadership-facing meetings, product reviews, demos, nursing governance forums, and stakeholder readouts.Represent assigned scope in leadership discussions by providing clear status updates, risks, adoption insights, workflow implications, and delivery recommendations.Prepare materials including readouts, demos, workflow summaries, dashboards, product insights, and decision briefs for leadership and stakeholder audiences.Engage nursing leaders, frontline nurses, clinical informatics, quality, operations, and technology stakeholders to clarify requirements, validate delivered solutions, and incorporate feedback into execution.Support change management and adoption readiness by translating nursing feedback into prioritized product improvements, training considerations, and operational enablement needs. Agile Process Participation Actively participate in Sprint Planning, Stand-Ups, Reviews/Demos, and Retrospectives.Ensure stories meet definition of ready prior to sprint commitment and definition of done prior to release acceptance.Support validation of completed work to ensure acceptance criteria, clinical usability expectations, and business outcomes are met.Partner with the Scrum Master to improve delivery flow, predictability, execution discipline, and cross-team coordination.Performs other duties as assigned.Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement."
