Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Principal Network Engineer to join our team in Albany, New York. The ideal candidate will have proven hands-on experience in network engineering, a deep understanding of networking protocols, and the ability to manage and troubleshoot complex network systems. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring availability for on-call support after hours.

Responsibilities:

• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
• Monitor performance to ensure system availability and reliability.
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
• Evaluate threats, troubleshoot issues, and comply with security configuration standards.
• Design and deploy changes to client configurations as per the applicable change management process.
• Proactively handle all network security solutions.
• Perform firmware upgrades on routers, switches, WLCs, and firewalls.
• Utilize testing and diagnostic tools to assess and modify equipment.
• Use enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Splunk.
• Open vendor support cases, including Cisco, Palo Alto, and other third-party vendors.
• Investigate network performance issues using tools like Wireshark.
• Perform hardware decommission and disposal following company policy and guidelines.
• Update vision diagrams for multiple sites based on CMDB reports.
• Support offshore team upgrades and troubleshooting sessions as required.

• Proven hands-on network engineering experience.
• CCNP or higher certification (Wireless and SDWAN knowledge is an added advantage).
• Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11).
• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools.
• University degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, BGP, and EIGRP.
• In-depth knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers, and WLCs.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure efficient operation.
• Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical team members.

Pay Range: $70- $75/hr. W2

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
