About the Team

DoorDash is looking for an analytical and entrepreneurial operator to join our team as an Associate Manager on our Marketplace Strategy & Operations team.  Our mission is to grow local business within DoorDash, building best-in-class experiences for both our customers and our merchants alike. You will dive into data to explain market performance at the lowest level of detail, create high-impact strategies, and work alongside internal and external stakeholders to develop our brand and grow our business.

About the Role

We are looking for an Associate Manager to join our Marketplace Strategy & Operations team. This role will play a key role in unlocking the next phase of growth for merchants by owning and executing local markets growth strategies across the Midwest and other strategic markets. In this role, youll design and execute innovative plans and experiments to increase market share, analyze performance at a granular level, and build reports, models, and tools that enable teams to scale impact. Youll work across a range of metrics and partner closely with cross-functional teams to drive coordinated growth.

Location & Travel: Highly prefer candidates residing in Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, or Missouri (ideally near the Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Detroit, or St. Louis metro areas); requires twice-quarterly travel to our Chicago hub for team collaboration and project sprints.

Youre excited about this opportunity because you will

  • Formulate & execute against a strategy for winning in some of DoorDashs most competitive markets in the US. You are able to both zoom in to understand market dynamics (across merchant, customer, & dasher), and zoom out to articulate a vision for winning over the long-term.
  • Conduct business-critical analyses--and act on them. You have a natural curiosity to leverage data to solve problems and identify opportunities. More importantly, you can translate those insights into clear narratives that influence decisions and inspire your own actionable initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to stand up and implement new initiatives. In a large and fast-growing business, it takes a village to build needle-moving programs. Youre able to work across teams such as Merchant, Dasher, and Marketing to drive coordinated, innovative growth initiatives
  • Build for the long-term. Youre a strategic thinker who is able to see the big picture, set key business goals and milestones, and then work relentlessly to realize the vision. Youre focused on the so-what & able to articulate the long-term implications of your work.

Were excited about you because

  • You have 4+ years of experience.  Youve successfully managed initiatives and driven results in high-performance cultures (whether in tech, strategy, operations, consulting, banking or a related experience). High-growth startup experience is a plus.
  • You solve problems from first principles.  You like being presented with a problem and coming up with a strategic and tactical plan in innovative waysand you resist this is how its always been done thinking.
  • Youre analytical.  You let data win arguments, and youre an expert at pulling your own data (you use or can learn SQL) and modeling in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • You take initiative and own outcomes end-to-end. You have a strong bias toward action and quickly turn insights into impactful experiments and initiatives that drive measurable results.
  • Youre unafraid of ambiguity.  Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environments
  • Youre a relationship-builder. You can influence and motivate people at all levels across a variety of functions
  • Youre equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot.  You dont hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but youre just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team. No job is beneath you.
