This role plays a critical part in delivering a world-class experience at one of North America’s premier racing venues by leading teams, deploying resources strategically, and implementing a proactive cleaning model that anticipates needs before they arise.

The Associate Manager will ensure seamless coverage of the main building, grounds, and stable areas during racing, training, and non-racing events, with a strong emphasis on high-end hospitality environments and large-scale event execution.

Essential Functions:

Operational Oversight & Campus Coverage

o Track apron and public exterior spaces
o Backstretch and stable areas
o Administrative and operational offices
• Ensure comprehensive coverage plans are in place for race days, training days, and non-racing events.

• Assist in inventory control, ordering and requisitions for the department.

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

• Develop daily and event-based staffing plans to ensure full campus coverage.
• Conduct pre-shift briefings and post-shift debriefs to reinforce expectations and identify improvement opportunities.
• Monitor productivity, attendance, and performance; provide coaching and corrective action as needed.
• Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and pride in presentation.
• Implement a proactive, not reactive cleaning model to identify high-risk/high-traffic areas before issues arise.
• Anticipate weather-driven impacts (mud, rain, heat) and adjust cleaning protocols accordingly.

Guest Experience & Service Standards
• Ensure all public-facing areas consistently meet or exceed high-end hospitality cleanliness expectations.
• Maintain restrooms, seating areas, premium spaces, and food & beverage zones at best-in-class standards.
• Respond immediately to guest-facing issues and escalate when necessary.
• Partner with Guest Services and Hospitality teams to align on service expectations for VIP and marquee events.

Safety & Compliance
• Enforce all workplace safety standards and proper handling of cleaning materials.
• Ensure compliance with NYRA policies, NYSGC regulations (as applicable), and environmental standards.
• Maintain clean, safe conditions in both public and back-of-house areas, including barns and stable zones.

Inspection, Quality Control & Standards
• Conduct routine and random inspections of all areas of responsibility.
• Implement and maintain detailed cleaning checklists, zone assignments, and inspection logs.
• Enforce strict quality control standards with zero tolerance for lapses in high-visibility areas.
• Track and report cleanliness KPIs, including response times, issue resolution, and inspection scores.

Cross-Functional Coordination
• Work closely with:
o Venue & Event Operations (setup and conversions)
o Facilities & Maintenance (repairs impacting cleanliness)
o Security (access and incident response)
o Hospitality & F&B teams (high-touch service areas)
• Ensure cleaning operations are fully integrated into the broader venue operations plan.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Experience
• 5+ Years or Progressive Experience in Cleaning and/or Building Services
• Bilingual – Spanish and English (Preferred)

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Candidate will be working all over the venue as well as limited desk time.
