Boston College seeks an attorney experienced in a broad range of real estate and transactional
practice areas for the position of Associate General Counsel in the Office of the General
Counsel.
The attorney will report to the General Counsel and will advise the University on a
variety of matters, with a focus on campus planning and facilities development, including
zoning and permitting, institutional master planning, real estate transactions and disputes,
property tax, and design and construction contracts. The practice also includes regulatory
compliance in areas such as accessibility, sustainability, wetlands protection, state and local
historic preservation, hazardous waste, environmental health and safety, and tax-exempt
status. Within a small general counsels office, the attorney will handle other transactional
matters as assigned.
Responsibilities will include representing the University before state and local government
boards and officials; negotiating, drafting and reviewing real estate contracts; advising internal
clients about zoning, permitting, and tax considerations; serving as lead counsel to Boston
Colleges Facilities Management department; reviewing and negotiating design and
construction contracts, and handling other matters as assigned.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $198,950 to $248,700; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
