Associate General Counsel – Multifamily Real Estate
Location: McLean, VA (Onsite – Limited Remote Flexibility)
Fulltime onsite - Monday -Friday.

The Associate General Counsel will provide legal guidance on multifamily real estate finance transactions, supporting loan production, underwriting, securitization, and asset management activities. This role plays a key part in enabling business operations through expert legal counsel and strategic advisory.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as legal counsel on multifamily loan transactions, including purchase and servicing
• Negotiate contracts, loan documents, and transaction agreements
• Conduct due diligence and analyze legal risks in structured transactions and securitization
• Support asset management, operational, and loan servicing legal matters
• Coordinate and manage outside counsel
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across legal, business, and regulatory teams
• Provide legal support for product development, policy updates, and process improvements
• Assist with regulatory and government-related matters, including FHFA interactions
• Draft legal documents, correspondence, and advisory materials
• Train internal teams on legal and regulatory matters
Must-Have Skills
• JD degree and active bar membership
• 10+ years of real estate finance legal experience
• Strong experience in negotiating and closing complex transactions
• Deep understanding of commercial/multifamily real estate legal frameworks
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
