Position Summary
The Associate Electrical Engineer will support the design, analysis, testing, and documentation of power electronics, propulsion-related electrical systems, and spacecraft subsystems. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to develop hardware used in power distribution, power regulation, and electric propulsion technologies for microsatellites and Hall Thrusters.
This is an excellent role for an early-career engineer eager to work in a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment and contribute to flight hardware.
Key Responsibilities
Support design and analysis of electronics used in power distribution, power storage, and power processing units (PPUs) for spacecraft and electric propulsion systems
Assist in the development of discrete power supplies and supporting circuitry (typically 100–1500W, 28–300V)
Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection for circuit board designs
Participate in hardware fabrication, board bring‑up, testing, debugging, and documentation
Support environmental and performance testing for electric propulsion systems and subsystem components
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including software, mechanical, and propulsion engineering to ensure subsystem integration and meet mission requirements
Maintain accurate technical documentation, test reports, and configuration data for internal stakeholders and customers
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Familiarity with basic circuit analysis (gain/phase, stress/derating, reliability)
Experience using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering tools, etc.)
Exposure to schematic capture and PCB design tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Candidates must be able to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control and ITAR compliance laws, which require proof that the candidate is a U.S. person.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Altium Designer
Basic programming skills in Python or C for test automation or embedded support
Knowledge of EMI/EMC principles and testing
Exposure to power converter transformer design
Familiarity with aerospace environments and flight hardware practices
Experience with GitLab or Jira is a plus
Export Control / Compliance Requirements
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
