Here's a summary of responsibilities:
As a Games Operations leadership team member, utilize NGB, USOPC, sport performance experience/background and Organizing Committee experience/knowledge to lead and oversee planning, development, and execution of Games Operations in collaboration with Sport Performance Teams and Events & Logistics for the Parapan American and Youth Parapan American Games. The Associate Director, reporting to the Director of Olympic & Paralympic Games, will also play a key role in the planning, development, and execution of Games Operations for the Summer Paralymic Games.
The Associate Director is responsible for leading and executing the strategic plan, including performance strategies, staffing, logistics, contract negotiation and budget development/oversight for Team USA at the Parapan American and Youth Parapan American Games. Serve in Games leadership roles and interface with NGBs, NOCs, International Federations, and Organizing Committees. Support Team USA athletes by creating the best Games environment to achieve sustained competitive excellence. Liaise with Olympic Games Operations, Sport Performance, and Events & Logistics to mentor other staff members and maximize efficiencies across functional areas.
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:
- Direct the strategic planning and execution for Games Operations for the Parapan American and Youth Parapan American Games.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the USOPC and Organizing Committee for Parapan American Games and Youth Parapan American Games.
- Establish and maintain effective and impactful working relationships with USOPC team members and NGBs to manage, communicate, and ensure the seamless integration of strategic and tactical plans for the Parapan American and Youth Parapan American Games.
- Supervise and develop the Coordinator, Paralympic Games Operations. Delegate tasks appropriately, provide feedback, manage performance, and support their professional growth.
- Under the general supervision of the Director, Olympic & Paralympic Games Operations, support the strategic planning and execution for the sport, staffing, logistical, and operational strategy for the Paralympic Games. Serve as the point of contact for designated operational areas between the USOPC and the Paralympic Games organizing committees, as well as Village
- Direct and implement the following Parapan American Games and Youth Parapan American Games operational areas: Games Planning Strategy – In collaboration with Sport Performance Teams and Events & Logistics, execute Games strategies for the Parapan American/other continental Games, which includes:
- Survey design and management of results
- Ongoing enhancement of content, data collection and reporting methods
- Timely communication with NGBs and identified USOPC divisions
- Direct the planning and execution of site visits as necessary
- Delegation Management – Oversee the delegation registration, accreditation, and sport entries processes for U.S. teams and support staff participating in the Parapan American/other continental Games which includes:
- Collaborate with Sport Performance to develop and implement accreditation allocation strategy, communication, and administration.
- Oversee the preparations for, assist with the planning of, and attend Games Pre-Delegation Registration and Delegation Registration Meetings.
- Establish timelines and notification dates that correspond to Organizing Committee due dates and USOPC operational needs. In collaboration with Sport Performance Teams, communicate the information to NGBs and key USOPC divisions.
- Village Operations – Oversee the planning and execution of all Village areas, including housing, transport, freight/shipping, rate card, satellite villages and accommodations, accreditation, NGB/sport services, nutrition, athlete resource centers, information technology, communications, and security to ensure an optimal environment to support high performance in the athlete village for Parapan American Games and Youth Parapan American Games.
- Oversee and Manage Delegation Registration – Games Registration, Accreditation, and Sport Entry processes for Parapan American Games and Youth Parapan American Games.
- Partner with Events & Logistics to execute the following:
- Games Travel – Collaborate on the development and implementation of the Games Travel strategy including air travel and airport operations.
- Ground Transportation – Collaborate on the development and implementation of a strategic and comprehensive ground transportation plan including:
- Working with NGBs and USOPC divisions to determine transportation needs and requirements.
- Developing and managing strategy for vehicles, drivers and vehicle access and parking permits (VAPPs).
- Surveys and Evaluations – Oversee the development of Parapan American/other continental Games surveys and associated processes.
- Manage the budget and fiscal activities for the Parapan American and Youth Parapan American Games including budget creation, forecasting, monthly review, and reconciliation. Partner with USOPC Finance team to facilitate financial activities as needed.
- Serve in Games Management leadership role as requested. Supervise contractors, temporary staff, volunteers, and USOPC staff in their Games assignments as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of study or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid passport
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- 5+ years of experience with Olympic or Paralympic sport programs including coaching, event operations management, logistics and team management, and/or experience with an organizing committee
- Proven ability to lead a multi-dimensional and cross-functional team
- Proven ability to promote and enhance sport performance
- Exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Detail oriented and good logistical skills with special attention to quality control
- Creative thinker and innovator
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook
- Basic proficiency in a second language other than English highly preferred

Here's some more information you need to know:
- Hiring pay range $90,000 - $95,000 per year.
- This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
