Volunteers of America Mid-States VOA is a non-profit organization spanning four states that creates positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through a ministry of service. JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

Under direction, coordinates and supervises regional residential operations for VOA Home programs in Kentucky. A Masters Degree in human services or a related field with a minimum of five years of experience in residential settings is required. Alternatively, a person with a related Bachelors degree and 10 or more years of related work experience or 13 years of experience in the field with no degree may be considered. This position also requires an additional two years of experience managing projects and/or teams. Knowledge of problems associated with families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness is required. Experience supporting families experiencing homelessness, including strengths-based engagement and safety-focused intervention, is also required. The position requires a demonstrated ability to direct multiple complex and diverse programs. It requires proven ability in program development and implementation, policy development, program integration, management, team building, and budgetary planning and oversight. Demonstrate understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their application in residential settings. Ability to guide staff in trauma-responsive practices, crisis stabilization, and de-escalation techniques. The position requires strong business acumen and a reasonable combination of the following skills and abilities:

Must have a commitment to the principles of the project, excellent verbal and written communication skills, high degree of organization, and creative problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, judgment, discretion, and honesty. Must learn and apply agency personnel and program policies and procedures and stipulations of the grant contract. Must have personal automobile, valid drivers license, liability insurance, and be willing and able to travel between locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strong knowledge about VOA Home programs and the ability to supervise and train staff in both programs. Supervises and trains appropriate staff in proven residential practices. Supervises and trains appropriate staff in assessing, referring, and enrolling the target population. Supervises and trains appropriate staff in creating and processing all internal and external reports and compliance with Council on Accreditation standards and PQI. Assists in creating and processing Strategic Plans. Assists in creating, processing, and updating Policy and Program Manuals. Assists in developing and maintaining program budgets. Ensures program compliance and satisfaction with funder requirements. Assist in developing and maintaining positive relationships with funding and regulatory agencies by ensuring timely reporting of programs, good to excellent review of funder results, seizing opportunities to develop personal and professional relationships, etc. Assist in developing new programs. Performance quality improvement PQI duties as assigned by supervision & PQI committee. Must be able to handle personnel issues appropriately and according to VOA policies as they arise. Must provide appropriate and regular supervision to direct reports. Must perform external relations activities as needed. Advocate for families integrating cultural values into their service needs. Identify systemic barriers and communicates with organizational leadership about these barriers to work collaboratively to find viable solutions. Maintain high level of integrity for program. Must be able to perform daily administrative duties as required. Must participate in VOA meetings as needed, either in person or through the use of technology. Participate in community-state committees on behalf of the target population and Volunteers of America. Conduct case record reviews.
