Summary

The Associate Director of the Central Business Office (CBO) oversees Billing, Collection, Payment Variance, and Data Control departments. Develops policies, sets goals, delegates tasks, and aims to reduce accounts receivable through improved processes. Supports financial decisions, compliance, and staff management, ensuring effective operations and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

• Manages a large multi-functional service area to ensure maximum efficiency and adherence to budgeted resources, providing direction to a multi-disciplinary workforce to meet standards set by accrediting, licensing, regulatory agencies, and the Public Health Trust.
• This role oversees daily operations of Billing, Collection, Payment Variance, and Data Control departments, ensuring consistent management of accounts receivable from post-admission to billing and collections.
• Develops and revises policies and procedures for all central business office areas, sets departmental goals and KPIs, and delegates responsibilities to associate administrators.
• The Associate Director aims to reduce gross days accounts receivable through effective third-party insurance verification, improved billing, and expedited collections follow-up, while coordinating with AA''s and external vendors for governmental assistance applications.
• Focus on minimizing bad debt write-offs by ensuring timely insurance collections and proper charity care classification, directing outsourced agencies, and reviewing monthly invoices to prevent overbilling.
• Supports financial decisions with analytical data, ensures compliance with AHCA charity care procedures, and administers the Dade County Resident policy.
• Applies benchmarking techniques, identifying areas for improvement in receivables management, reducing the cost-to-collect ratio, and managing recruitment and retention of management staff.
• Additionally, keeps staff informed of reimbursement changes, conducts departmental meetings, collaborates on policies impacting daily operations, and monitors the departmental budget.
• Conducts surveys for departmental improvement, manages leave and attendance requests, maintains records and reports, and evaluates staff performance.
• Participates in decisions on automated system enhancements, the Continuous Quality Improvement plan, and provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating service quality.
• Ensures resource allocation, communicates the organization''s mission and vision, and ensures staff competency through required education programs and training.
• Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

• Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Management experience is required.

Education

• Bachelor''s degree in related field is required

Skill

• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
• Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs.

Credentials

• Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
