Job Summary

Responsible to the Associate AD for Marketing and Branding for assistance with public relations and publicity for the university's athletics program including production of ETSU Athletics and University publications, community public relations, event management, preparing news releases, creating creative content, assisting with management of graduate assistants, interns, and other student help; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong writing, editing, and design skills.
  • Computer skills using Mac and PC platforms.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other computer skills required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with an outstanding work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
  • Strong teamwork aptitude.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations of East Tennessee State University, the Southern Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information at the Division I and/or professional sports level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in Athletic Communications/Sports Information at the Division I and/or professional sports level.
  • Previous experience working in a college sports information office preferred.
  • Stat Crew and/or NCAA Live Stats experience with football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and/or baseball/softball
