Position Title Associate Dean Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Job Responsibilities
The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. School of Education is seeking an Associate Dean.
Responsibilities include:
Faculty & Academic Program Support
- Review syllabi for all programs to ensure alignment with institutional policies.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and overseeing academic programming, curriculum, instruction, and assessment activities.
- Oversee and coordinate all summer programming.
- Maintain candidate support systems and appeals/complaints databases. Maintain and update Brightspace program pages in collaboration with program chairs.
Accreditation & Quality Assurance
- Serve as the primary liaison between the School of Education and accreditors for all program areas (CAEP/AQUEP, Middle States, CSWE, ASHA, and any other new programs),
- Attend accreditation conferences and report back to the school.
- Lead and support the development, revision, and monitoring of the School's Strategic Plan, Quality Assurance System, Assessment and Evaluation Plan.
- Serve as the key organizer and writer of accreditation self‑study reports with the Assistant Dean of Assessment and faculty.
- Coordinate accreditation Board of Examiner pre‑visits and campus visits for all programs.
- In collaboration with the Director of student teaching and dept. chair, oversee and develop residency/apprenticeship program.
- Work with the Assistant Dean of Assessment and act as a liaison with Program Chairs and Chair of Clinical Services for programmatic decisions related to implementation of quality assurance system (e.g., accreditation phase in plans, assessment placement in courses, accreditation completer studies)
NYSED Duties & State Programming
- Write applications to NYSED for new and revised programs.
- Serve as liaison to NYSED regarding accreditation and regulatory matters.
- Assist with leading focus groups for new programming and reaching out to stakeholders about potential programs
Campus‑Wide Initiatives & Administrative Leadership
- Serve as the contact person for Registrar's Office approvals and communication.
- Collaborate with the Dean, Program Chairs, faculty, and Grants Office on grant proposals.
- Assist with recruitment sessions, orientations, and departmental recruitment plans.
Education / Experience
Required:
- A terminal degree in education or a related field such as social work speech pathology,etc.
- A record of teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Demonstrated experience with accreditation, assessment, curriculum development, and program leadership in teacher education and/or social work.
- Evidence of collaboration, shared governance, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of populations.
- Experience leading change, mentoring faculty, and supporting academic programs.
Preferred:
- Experience with CAEP, SPA reporting, CSWE, or state regulatory processes.
- Experience with P-12 partnerships, teacher preparation, or clinical education.
- Grant‑writing experience.
- Specialty licensure (ie social work, education, speech pathology, etc. )
Competencies / Skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project‑management skills.

- Proficiency with learning management systems, assessment platforms, and educational

Job Type Full-time Work Hours
This is a full-time position scheduled for thirty-five (35) hours per week; 12 months a year.
